A couple NC-WRC staff gave a talk Tues night (Dec 8) at the NC Nat Sci Museum on captive propagation and re-stocking of rare fishes, mussels, and salamanders. The WRC fish hatchery at Marion NC is now being used for rare species (not just trout and game fish) and they plan to expand it for this purpose. Jesse Perry spoke with them about whether a group of aquarium hobbyists could come tour the facility; they said Spring would be a good time when there's lots of hatchery activity to be seen. Who else would be interested in going? This would be of course be open to Raleigh, Charlotte, Triad, SCAA, CVAS, other regional clubs. Anybody know is there a club in east TN? We might could do some seining in the Catawba basin streams too. I will post more here when we figure out a date.
